Learn how to design a Dolby Atmos mix studio with the How to Design a Dolby Atmos Mix Room guide. This resource focuses on 9.1.6, 9.1.4, and 7.1.4 speaker configurations across a variety of applications, including Dolby Atmos music and non-theatrical post production.

To supplement the guide, the following companion resources provide additional guidance: For 5.1.4 speaker layouts, see 5.1.4 Speaker Placement for Dolby Atmos Mix Rooms. For designs that use speaker configurations larger than 9.1.6 and/or Array Mode, see Designing a Dolby Atmos Mix Room with Speaker Arrays.

We recommend using these resources alongside our Dolby Atmos Room Design Tool, an Excel-based calculator that interactively helps determine optimal speaker locations and models for a given room.

Whether you're designing a new studio or converting an existing space into a Dolby Atmos mix room, these guidelines should be followed as closely as possible. The same recommendations also apply to non-theatrical quality control (QC) rooms.

For a more interactive learning experience, the self-paced Dolby Atmos Mix Room Design and DARDT Training course explores these concepts through a combination of text, video, and interactive exercises, helping you apply the guidelines with confidence.
