The recommended minimum distance from the floor to the lowest overhead speaker is 2.4 meters (measured floor to speaker baffle). If your ceiling makes this difficult to achieve, a functional mix environment is still possible through careful speaker positioning and aiming.

For example, you may be able to use speakers with a compact form factor to minimize how far they extend into the room or install the overhead speakers in-ceiling to maximize the available height.

When the recommended speaker distances cannot be achieved, careful positioning becomes especially important. Follow the How to Design a Dolby Atmos Mix Room guide as closely as possible, paying particular attention to recommended speaker angles and aiming. Regardless of the chosen speakers or mounting solution, the final setup should adhere to the speaker placement, frequency response, and headroom recommendations.
