Dolby Vision Professional Tools

Metafier

Metafier is a comprehensive metadata utility for working with Dolby Vision XML metadata and Dolby Vision Mezzanine MXF files.

It provides end-to-end metadata handling, combining inspection and validation with the tools needed to manage and maintain metadata throughout the workflow.

Metafier supports workflows where metadata accuracy and consistency are essential to maintaining a reliable Dolby Vision pipeline.

Who it’s for

Colorists, post-production engineers, QC engineers, and technical specialists responsible for managing and validating Dolby Vision metadata.

When to use it

Metafier is used to inspect, validate, or manage Dolby Vision metadata, and to troubleshoot metadata-related issues.

Metadata validation and maintenance at this level are not substituted by Dolby Vision–enabled third-party applications. Validating Dolby Vision metadata helps ensure that content is interpreted and rendered correctly across downstream tools, packaging workflows, and playback environments.

CM Analyze

CM Analyze is an easy way to convert existing HDR10 (ST 2084/PQ) content into Dolby Vision by automatically generating frame by frame Dolby Vision Level 1 Analysis metadata.

The generated metadata, together with the original HDR10 source, is then used to create a Dolby Vision Mezzanine deliverable that can be encoded and distributed.

Who it’s for

Studios, Facilities and teams preparing Dolby Vision deliverables from existing HDR10 masters.

When to use it

CM Analyze is used to create Dolby Vision frame-by-frame metadata for HDR10 to Dolby Vision conversion workflows.

This CM Analyze functionality is available in selected Dolby Vision–enabled applications, allowing Dolby Vision analysis metadata to be generated directly from within the application as part of an integrated conversion workflow.

CM Offline

CM Offline uses Dolby Vision metadata + HDR master image (content mapping) to render a mapped image for a specified target display.

It outputs a standalone derivative image sequence or video file, enabling evaluation of how Dolby Vision content maps to specific targets.

Who it’s for

Colorists, finishing artists, QC teams and other technical teams who need to evaluate Dolby Vision content on specific target displays.

When to use it

CM Offline is used to generate standalone, display-specific renderings of a Dolby Vision Master for review, validation, or analysis outside the mastering environment, particularly when evaluating how content maps to target displays with different luminance capabilities than the mastering display used.

This CM Offline functionality is available in selected Dolby Vision–enabled applications, allowing standalone tone-mapped renders to be initiated directly from within the application being used.

Mezzinator

Mezzinator creates Dolby Vision Mezzanine MXF deliverables, combining video essence with Dolby Vision metadata.

Mezzinator supports MXF with interleaved Dolby Vision metadata, MXF with sidecar XML metadata  and separate ISXD MXF track metadata.

This flexibility supports different delivery and interchange requirements across Dolby Vision workflows.

Who it’s for

Post-production facilities and technical teams responsible for creating Dolby Vision Mezzanine deliverables.

When to use it

Use Mezzinator when packaging video and Dolby Vision metadata into a Dolby Vision Mezzanine format to create a service master for encoding, delivery, or downstream processing.

The Dolby Vision Mezzanine format forms the foundation of the current Dolby Vision IMF packaging and has been largely integrated into this modern delivery format. As Dolby Vision workflows have evolved, IMF has become the preferred packaging method for many distribution and interchange use cases.

Today, Dolby Vision IMF packages can be created directly in selected Dolby Vision–enabled applications, enabling streamlined workflows that integrate creative mastering and final packaging within a single environment.
