I can't seem to get the renderer to export the LFE channel. Anyone have this issue?
I'm monitoring in 7.1 and clearly hear it in the play back. I see it on the meters. Once I record, and rerender a 7.1 or 5.1 deliverable there is no audio on the LFE channel. Am I just doing something wrong?

    Hi,

    The LFE needs to be fed from the Bed (Renderer input 4 if using a 5.1 or above width Bed). If you have low frequency content in Objects and bass management turned on in preferences/settings you may see the LFE speaker output active in the meters but it won't be present in the LFE from a 7.1 or 5.1 re-render. If you are happy with the way the mix sounds monitoring in 7.1 and 5.1 with low frequency content in the Objects there isn't anything wrong with the LFE on a re-render not active.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Adam

    Is it possible that the labeling of the Bass Management option "Speaker" and "Object" in the Speaker Preferences is misleading?
    "Speaker" means "After Speaker Renderer" or "Output Channels" because the bass management is applied after the Render. It redirects only the low frequencies of non-LFE channels of any Bed to the LFE Speaker. Objects are not included because they don't address the LFE channel
    "Object" means "Before Speaker Renderer" or "Input Channels" where the low frequency of any of all the 128 channels (including the Objects) are included in the bass management.

    LFE channel != Sub speaker.

    What is prolly happening is that bass from other channels/obj is being redirected to the sub. This is prolly happening in the Renderer & should happen in consumer AVRs too. This is part of normal bass management.

    If there's no content in the LFE (especially for music contexts), & it sounds fine, there's no need to change anything (in agreement w/ AdamP). You can manually feed content to LFE if you really want (using a bed), but keep in mind LFE reproduction & sub ownership is optional (unlike non-LFE channels).
