If you want to purchase and use the Dolby Atmos Production Suite nothing else is needed with Nuendo. Logic would require the use of the Dolby Atmos Music Panner which can be downloaded free from https://customer.dolby.com/content-creation-and-delivery as well as the LTC Generator plug-in provided with the Dolby Atmos Production Suite installer. Both the Music Panner plug-in and LTC generator plug-in are provided as AU and VST3.
Adding the Dolby Atmos Production Suite to a workflow with Nuendo or Logic Pro is only necessary if you have more than 7.1.4 speakers and also if you want to use the MP4 export function from the Dolby Atmos Production Suite. Only the plug-ins mentioned above are AU or VST. The Dolby Atmos Renderer (Production Suite as purchased from AVID) is a standalone application that connects to a DAW via the included Dolby Audio Bridge core audio device.
Thanks,
Adam
What I'm trying to establish is that if I buy DAPS from Avid will I get the functionality as I had with the trial version of DAPS on Logic (ignoring the fact that Logic has Dolby Atmos built in!)
I prefer the workflow, functionality, control of the stand alone DAPS with Logic. From what you've said it sounds like yes and I'm just getting the Renderer from Avid, Correct?
Got it. Correct. The trial version of the Dolby Atmos Production Suite you downloaded and what you would get from AVID are exactly the same. Since you already have the software you are really just purchasing the permanent ilok authorization.
Best,
Adam
