    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Apple Music on Android is delivered using the Dolby DDPJOC codec. There is a separate Dolby implementation that is used for virtualizing Dolby Atmos for headphone and speaker playback on mobile devices.

    Best,
    Adam
    • Hello, Adam! I wondered about a little thing just a few moments ago, Can you import the audio file (Channel Source) as 5.1 or 7.1 on Dolby Atmos Music Production? and also can we mix with multichannel as atmos? Many and I are thinking that only stereo channels are mixed up to 128 objects or recorded by themselves directly (most likely classical does.) This would be greater if you do because the original surround with Re-mixing as Atmos is getting more powerful, But mixing the source as stereo to Atmos may not be great I do think so. I'll expect your replies, Thank you always, Adam!

    • I have a weird thing. When my android is playing as Tidal/Atmos(AC4-IMS), that is so annoying to me. Then I turn it off. What happened ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    • Hello, Adam. Could you answer if It plays Binaural Render either on Apple Music? I need this answer, please!

Yep, looks like DD+JOC for the most part and possibly a binaural 2 channel version too, although I'm not sure under what circumstances you get that or if that's for Apple users without airpods perhaps?

    • Honestly, Adam says โ€œIf Atmos is enabled but Airpods are not used I believe a pre binauralized 2 channel signal is streamed. This is created with Apple's Renderer.โ€ So no problem you donโ€™t have to get the AirPods for listening Dolby Atmos! I think Spatial audio for head tracking only. Dolby atmos best either on just headphones or anothers. Anyway, always mystery Apple didnโ€™t announce about which it uses on androidโ€ฆWell, Thank you for paying attention my post. :)

Looking into it a bit further, it would seem on Android Apple Music is always a DD+JOC and not decoded as Apple Spatial. It is clearly turning on Dolby Atmos decoder rather than streaming a pre-binauralized Apple Spatial version to Android. Apple music app is a bit quirky because its own Dolby Atmos switch in the app doesn't do anything, it simply sets what format the next track you play will be, while the current track, if not Atmos will continue olaying as Stereo even when enabled. This is a little different to Tidal & Amazon where it's much clearer as you enabled/disable playback to be stereo or Atmos in real time.
      • I don't think so; if they decode as Apple Spatial, that would be ridiculous...
