Dolby Renderer Won't Record With Record In/Out Engaged While Sync'd to Logic Pro
I'm using Logic Pro which sends audio via the Dolby Bridge to the Renderer. Sync works fine. But when I create the Master file, activate the Record In/Out times and put the Renderer in Record Ready, the Renderer does not record after I hit play in Logic Pro. Curiously, if I deactivate the Record In/Out settings, the Renderer will record. Is there a bug?
Finally, after the Master file is recorded, I keep getting an Input Configuration error. This error disappears when I set the Renderer to Input but reappears when it's set to Master. Please advise.
Thanks for your help!

    Hi Marc,

Just to verify that when you say "Sync works fine" that this means the LTC Generator plugin is inserted on a Logic track output to 129, 129 is set in the Renderer preferences and that incoming timecode is displayed in the Renderer Timecode display when the sync button is pressed. If all that is working then you need to ensure that the Logic transport is parked ahead of the set inpoint. Otherwise the Renderer record button will just blink as it waits for incoming LTC to roll over the in point. If this is with a previous recorded master file it will also need to be unlocked to all punch in/out using the record in/out points.

Re: the input configuration error, if you go to the Input configuration window and click on "Copy settings from master to input" this should be resolved.

    • Many thanks for your reply, Adam!

The Logic Pro transport is set 3 seconds ahead of the In point. In addition, the Renderer displays the LTC timecode from Logic but won't start recording. It just blinks. But, as stated earlier, if I "free wheel" the recording without setting the In/Out points and simply record once I hit play in Logic, it'll record. I followed the directions on your site and completed the entire course. Very resourceful. But I'm a bit lost with this issue.

By the way, I copied the master settings to input and it resolved the problem. Thanks again.

I can work around the issue above but it should work as described in your tutorials. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

      • Adam,

Nevermind. I checked your LTC generator in Logic and it starts at 00 hour. I set the In point at 01 hour in the Renderer. That's why it didn't start.

Like I always say, you can't fix stupid!

        Sorry for this mistake.

    Hi Marc,

Not at all. The LTC Generator plug-in at 00:00:00 in Logic isn't obvious and a reminder to me to mention it next time this issue comes up. Glad you got it sorted.
