What spec audio does Apple TV ‘bitstream’ with Apple Music (Atmos)
Hi there,
Could somebody please clarify what bit depth, sample rate and (up to) kbps an Apple TV outputs to a AVR over HDMI when listening to Apple Music.
I understand that the Apple TV uses DD+ JOC and decodes on the Apple TV itself to LPCM. It then sends this info as ‘Atmos’ to the AVR.
I also know that the maximum sample rate an Apple TV supports is 48khz, which obviously isn’t an issue for Atmos (as far as I’m aware that’s the maximum sample rate for consumer playback of Atmos anyway.)
What I want to know is what the actual bit depth, sample rate (and kbps) this Atmos stream is (or the maximum quality it can support)?

Atmos is delivered to your AVR via DD+JOC, which is a 16-bit codec, at 48k, at bitrates of 768 and 448 kbps, depending on the connection speed and other factors.
