Help encoding simple 7.1.4 audio wav to encoded Atmos
Can someone help me through the initial learning curve with a simple 7.1.4 wav file?
I have a 7.1.4 mix in standard 12 ch wav. I understand the height channels must be treated as objects. Looks like I need to install the Atmos panner and LTC plugins and run the audio with those live through the Atmos renderer. OK...
Is there an easier way for a stock 7.1.4 wav file though? The mix is baked into the audio channels. The height channels (9-12) simply have to be mapped 1:1 to the height channels.
If there isn't a simple way to handle a stock file like that, what are the default positions to setup that leads to 7.1.4 Atmos decoding to be 1:1 with the 7.1.4 master mix file?
I have a demo of the Dolby renderer and those plugins that come with it at present. I'm not a corporate partner with Dolby and they will not sell the encoder suite to me or allow any 3rd party to sell it to me. I was told I needed the renderer app anyway to handle going from straight 12 ch wav to encoded Atmos. Hopefully I wasn't misinformed that the renderer app can do this!
If I have to trial and error all this... well, there goes the rest of the day (week?). Very much appreciate anyone who could save me some learning curve here! Thanks!
