I paid over $300 for DAR and got absolutely NOTHING in return!!!
What ever possessed Dolby to trust an awful company like Avid to handle selling licenses in the first place?! First, it took an extra hour out of my day to make sure I wasn't charged for 2 licenses, or at all, because Avid prompted me to sign in during my checkout and emptied my cart in the process. Once I confirmed that I hadn't been charged and that Avid just doesn't have a sensible way to handle checkout, I went back and logged in before adding DAR to my cart and paid for it successfully.
After payment, Avid landed me on a page with no instructions on what to do next nor anything about where and when to find my iLok activation code.
I searched my email, my spam, Avid account, Dolby account, and iLok for the past 2 hours and absolutely nothing changed. Not even a confirmation from Avid, Dolby, or iLok about my license.
All I did receive was a receipt from PayPal and my bank, informing me that I paid, and my Avid purchase history states that I paid.
I have work to do. My business has gotten nothing done today, thanks to this fiasco. I'll be closing the studio with no work accomplished for tonight. THAT is costing me more than the license itself.
Avid makes a DAW that subpar for Atmos to begin with, so why they partnered with them in the first place is stupid. Avid is also known for their awful customer service, clearly only second from the bottom after Dolby. Its a company that makes tools intended for pros, wants them to buy expensive hardware to use it, but refuses to sell them the tools and instead forces them to rent it from them. THAT is the idiotic company Dolby trusted to handle this. Its not a surprise that Avid screwed up, they should've went with Steinberg (the company that makes Nuendo, the fully equipped Atmos DAW) but here we are. Taking my money, giving me nothing in return, and costing me more money than they swindled me out of in the first place.
