Error Opening DAMF with long file name in Renderer and Conversion Tool on Windows 11
Hello,
I recently encountered an issue attempting to open a DAMF file created on a mac in both the Renderer and Conversion Tool in Windows that I would like to share with everyone. Screenshots attached of the error message received from both apps. I've erased the file names for privacy, but they are quite long as required by the labels naming convention. I suspect this is an issue with Windows and not the Dolby set of tools despite the misleading error message. I had listened to the DAMF before leaving the studio, so I knew the file was ok, and simply wanted to use the conversion tool to create a 48k ADM from my 96k DAMF. After several minutes of panic, I remembered that Windows has problems with long file names. In this case the DAMF folder was several folders deep in the drive, also with long names. I copied the DAMF folder to the root of the media drive and it opened perfectly in both apps and I was able to create the 48k ADM with the conversion tool which also opened perfectly in the renderer.
I hope this bit of information saves someone some trouble down the road!
