Music Panner setup in ProTools
I've searched and read the forums posts, but just can't find an obvious answer. We have only used the PT native panner for our Atmos mixes, but find the need for the Dolby Atmos Panner for some of its automation sequencing features. We can not figure out how to set it up in ProTools and can not find any real documentation on how to set it up. We see it is connected to the renderer properly and have zero issues with our mixes in Atmos. So we know all is working. The problem is that most videos just say something like "put the Panner plugin on the track"... ok then what. On a stereo track in PT we have 2 object selections on the Panner. Do we make the stereo track object based and pick a pair of avail objects? If we do that then selecting those on the Panner, those same 2 object numbers are greyed out. We followed one post here on the forum and unmapped those 2 objects from outputs in the IO setup, but still nothing. We can see the blue dots moving in the DAR 3d window, but the Panner is doing nothing to the actually panning of that audio. It's just static. Can someone either point me to clear documentation, or at least post how to set up the Music Panner in PT please? Thank you.

Have a look at this lesson in our Atmos Essentials online training: https://learning.dolby.com/mod/scorm/player.php?a=140¤torg=B0&scoid=276
There are also some specific exercises around the use of the Music Panner.
But yeah you are on the right track. Once inserted on a track the panner needs to be connected to the Dolby Atmos Renderer and assigned to Renderer Object input for the metadata path. These Objects cannot also be mapped to the Renderer in the Pro Tools I/O setup. Either the Pro Tools panner is used (mapping in the I/O Setup Bus page) or the Music Panner is used.
The Music Panner User Guide documentation is in the Applications/Dolby/Dolby Atmos Music Panner folder.
Best,
