Visual display in the Dolby reference Player
I am using the Dolby Reference Player to QC mp4 videos with my DD-JOC audio tracks. I am surprised to see that the Reference Player does not show any audio present on my 2 'Upper/height' channels.
My recordings are of live classical concerts recorded with 2 only Height Channels, therefore 7.1.2. Since I do not need to 'fly' any audio objects, I use DaVinci Resolve Fairlight and put all of the tracks on 'beds', so the simple mic tracks are panned Left/Right and Left/Right Surround, Teft/Right Rear Surround and as I say 2 Height tracks. There is no LFE and only a phantom centre.
I join the Fairlight made ADM with the video mp4 in the AWS Media Convert. Alas I have only 5.1 monitoring and therefore listen to the Binaural re-render, in which I can hear that I have audio in my 2 height channels, but as I say the Dolby Reference Player does not show that in the finished video mp4 with DD-JOC audio.

Could you please let us know a few things. First what Dolby Reference Player version are you using.
What about encoding settings within DaVinci, are you using free version or the studio one? Have you checked with mediainfo how your audio within your mp4 container is visible. If your encode is done properly and this is Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos by using Dolby Reference Player and choosing proper loudspeaker layout you should at least see on the level meters signal. Remember that for test purpose to listen to those channels you can route your hights to e.g. Left and Right speakers for listening tests.
For test purpose you can also try using Dolby Atmos Renderer - if you haven't used that yet, you can have 90day trial time. Please load your master file and check if your signals are pretend to be routed in to right channels before encoding. By using Dolby Atmos Renderer you can also output it as encoded audio, as well as mux it together with external encoded video.
You can also request 30day Dolby Media Encoder eval license and check encodes done from your ADM file.
Viewing another subsequent .mp4 video with DD-JOC results in the correct visual display of the Rear and Height tracks, so there must be an encoding error in my first attempt to QC my videos with the Reference Player. Thanks for your support.
